Ralph McTell & Wizz Jones

Ralph McTell & Wizz Jones
Best known for his international hit, Streets of London, Ralph McTell has been a stalwart of the British acoustic music scene for over 50 years. A career that has spanned street busking across Europe, to solo shows at the Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall and The Sydney Opera House, McTell has a fifty year, 350 song career. Tonight he is accompanied by long term friend, early influence and co-busker Wizz Jones. Originally inspired by seeing Big Bill Broonzy and Ramblin Jack Elliot, Wizz learnt his guitar licks whilst playing in the coffee bars of Londons Soho in the late 1950s. He then followed the time-honoured buskers trail from the streets of Paris to the markets of Marrakech during the early 1960s and returned to Britain with a unique acoustic guitar style, an eclectic repertoire and right hand worthy of Broonzy! Clapton, Keith Richards and the late John Renbourn have all named him as an important early influence and Bruce Springsteen opened his Berlin concert in May 2012 with Wizzs song When I Leave Berlin. After more than 50 years on the road and now in his late-seventies Wizz shows no signs of slowing down and continues to tour on the Acoustic Folk and Blues circuit. With over a century of writing, playing and performing between them, Ralph and Wizz will be showcasing songs from their first album together, About Time, as well as favourites from their early busking experiences together in Cornwall in 1965.

Dracula: The Bloody Truth

Dracula: The Bloody Truth
Dracula: The Bloody Truth - is a theatrical retelling of Bram Stokers classic novel. It will expose that the events recorded in 1897 were not fiction at all....but fact. This brand new comedy theatre show will take audiences on a journey across Europe from the dark and sinister Transylvanian mountains to the awkwardly charming seaside town of Whitby and into the world of the supernatural, educating us all on the perils of dealing with vampires.

Le Navet Bete (Dick Tracy) are committed to creating hilarious theatre shows using engaging and creative storytelling. Set shortly after 1897 audiences will be introduced to Professor Abraham Van Helsing educating the world on the actual events of Dracula through his first ever theatre tour which he himself has produced and is in fact...starring in.

Expect Professor Van Helsing and the three actors he has commissioned to present this true story through the mediums of song, dance, soliloquy, shadow puppets and even some Victorian parlour tricks that will always go exactly as planned...supposedly.

Directed by John Nicholson (Peepolykus) Dracula: The Bloody Truth promises to have the vampires back in the ground and leave the audience flying high.

Stephen K Amos

Stephen K Amos
"Laughs came thick and fast throughout'don’t miss it" The Age Melbourne

Brexit. Trump. No more Mary Berry on the Great British Bake Off. Things are looking bleak, so wouldn't it be better to just forget all about it? Comic maestro Stephen K Amos might not be able to provide bread to the hungry masses, but no one else is going to put on a better circus. Leave your problems behind for the evening in the company of the 'effusively charming' Amos and who knows? Maybe the world will seem just a little bit brighter.

After all, when Ancient Rome needed to distract itself from politics, a few solutions were suggested, but none hit the spot quite like the simple idea of giving the people cheap food and plentiful entertainment, 'panem et circenses' or 'bread and circuses'. Our circuses might no longer involve gladiator fights to the death, but the same principle applies. Modern politics is a confusing mess, so no one can blame you for giving it a miss in favour of a night of laughs.

John Robins

John Robins
“One of the most naturally gifted comedians I’ve seen” THE TELEGRAPH

Double Chortle Award winning comedian John Robins – one of the most exciting and distinctive voices in comedy – returns reflecting on love, loss and lamenting the fact he can’t break up with himself.

The stand-up, vibe magnet and London’s saddest DJ ™ would love to promise The Darkness of Robins won’t be an hour-long yell of a show, but he can’t. He’ll shout, snarl and sneer in his attempts to grapple with life’s fall-outs in what promises to be a pivotal moment in his being. Powerful, angst-ridden comedy at its finest, this is a must-see from one of the UK’s brightest talents.

John has firmly established himself on the comedy circuit since his debut in 2005, and with fellow comedian Elis James has enjoyed a meteoric success with The Elis James and John Robins show on Radio X, which, like Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Adam & Joe before them, has spawned one of the UK’s most popular podcasts. The pair recently completed an acclaimed UK tour, selling out Shepherd’s Bush Empire within minutes.

He will headline the upcoming series of Live from the BBC (BBC2) and is a regular face on TV, with recent appearances including Mock The Week (BBC2), Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled (Dave) and Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC3). He also has a host of radio credits under his belt including BBC Radio 4’s The Now Show, The News Quiz and Dilemma.

“Hugely Entertaining” THE DAILY MIRROR

“A former flatmate of a clutch of successful Bristol-based comics that included Russell Howard and Jon Richardson, John Robins could be the next of his peer group to go on to greater things.” THE INDEPENDENT

“An hour in his charming, generous and honest company is so effortlessly entertaining” CHORTLE

The Story of the Solar System

The Story of the Solar System
Few stories are more thrilling, more extraordinary, than that of our Solar System and the planets, moons, asteroids and comets that orbit the star we call the Sun. In this exciting new live show, astronomer Will Gater brings this remarkable tale to the stage.

The Story of the Solar System explores how the planets came to be and how they were transformed from wandering points of light to familiar worlds. Worlds that we’ve now examined up-close with robotic rovers and orbiting spacecraft.

Along the way you’ll hear about the men and women who pioneered the study of our planetary neighbourhood and see how modern space missions, investigating strange and awe-inspiring alien landscapes, have built on their work.

With live demos bringing to life some of the science of the Solar System and spectacular astronomical imagery throughout, this promises to be one story you won’t forget soon.
