William Shakespeare’s hilarious and heart-breaking comedy of mistaken identity, cross-dressing and the stupidity of love is spectacularly re-imagined by a gender-reversed cast, where all the male parts are played by women, all the female parts by men, and nothing and no-one is quite what they first seem.
Acclaimed beatboxer SK Shlomo, and his incredibly energetic show, is like nothing you have seen before – jaw dropping, inspirational and totally absorbing. A Guinness World Record breaker, SK Shlomo gave up astrophysics to perform his amazing vocal pyrotechnics. It was a good move. Since then he has won global acclaim and worked with some of the biggest names in music including Bjork, Damon Albarn, Martha Wainwright, Basement Jaxx and The Specials. In the process he has continually pushed the boundaries of beatboxing, bringing the art form to new and unexpected audiences.
Raised on a strict childhood diet of orchestral percussion and jazz drums, SK Shlomo instinctively began making vocal music as a small child. He first found critical acclaim as a beatboxer aged 18 when he began touring with the award winning multinational hip hop group Foreign Beggars, and was named the “Harry Potter of beatboxing” by BBC Radio 1’s Tim Westwood.

Bristol Bad Film Club is proud to announce a very special event with Greg Sestero to discuss his experiences making the cult ‘bad’ movie – The Room.
Greg Sestero is the co-star of cult film The Room and best-selling author of the ‘The Disaster Artist’, a memoir of his time as an aspiring actor in Hollywood, which led to his bizarre friendship with the mysterious and iconoclastic director of The Room, Tommy Wiseau.
Since its release, The Disaster Artist has garnered critical acclaim and commercial success with the book being adapted into the Golden Globe-winning and Oscar-nominated film of the same name by director James Franco.
The event will see Greg talk about his experiences making the cult film The Room, behind-the-scenes documentary footage and a lot more.
Bring the spoons.
We’re celebrating the UK release of Best F(r)iends on Blu Ray with a special launch event at Redgrave Theatre with star/writer/producer Greg Sestero!
Fifteen years after cult classic / bafflingly sucessful ‘The Room’ went down in cinema history, the dynamic duo are back with Sestero’s latest masterpiece – Best F(r)iends.
Inspired by a road trip the two made in 2003, Best F(r)iends is a typically bizarre homage to the power of friendship that follows the lives of young drifter Jon Kortina (Greg Sestero) and lonesome mortician Harvey Lewis (Tommy Wiseau).
This strange and dark journey takes us to a neo-noir Los Angeles, where the unlikely companions embark on a twisted black market scheme to sell gold teeth that have been extracted from Harvey’s corpses.
We’re excited to have Greg Sestero join us at Redgrave Theatre for a special double bill presentation of the film.

Take a journey into the curious, unexpected, and downright surreal origins of the words we use every day. Susie will retell the adventures that lie hidden within such words as lasagne (involving a chamber pot) and bugbear (a terrorising monster), and explain such oddities as the silent h in ghost and the mysterious disappearance of kempt, gormful, and ruly (and yes, you really can be gruntled). She will look to the lexicon of the past to fill some of today’s linguistic gaps – such as the frenzied fit of tidying we all do just as guests are about to descend (that’s a scurryfunge).
Alongside such forgotten stories you will hear Susie’s selection of the funniest moments from her 25 years on Countdown and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, as well as some startling results from eavesdropping on a group of waiters.
Each evening will include some of Susie’s favourite words from the towns and regions she visits, and she’ll be asking the audience for theirs. In fact, she’ll be welcoming any questions about word origins, usage irritations, the dreaded impact of Americanization, and the very future of our language in her very own ‘word surgery’.
Agnetha and Frida’s legendary harmonies, Bjorn and Benny’s marvellous musicianship, those gloriously sequin-studded costumes and platform boot-pounding dance routines – are all wrapped up in the best night out you’ll have this year.
Cutting through all the millon-selling hits like a hot knife through butter: Dancing Queen; Super Trouper; Waterloo; Knowing Me, Knowing You; The Winner Takes It All; I Have A Dream; Chiquitita; Lay All Your Love On Me; Fernando; Mamma Mia; Voulez Vous; The Name of the Game; Take A Chance on Me; One of Us; Gimme, Gimme, Gimme; Thank You for the Music; Money, Money, Money; SOS; Does Your Mother Know; Ring Ring; Honey Honey; Summer Night City – you’ll be left saying: “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe it’s not ABBA”!
In fact, if ABBA had had any more hits, it’d never all fit into one show! So, say to yourself: I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do want the time of my life, and book your tickets now.
